1. The Wonderland Amusement Park
In an effort to rival Disneyworld, China endeavored to construct a Wonderland theme park 32 kilometers from Beijing, which would have been the biggest amusement park in Asia. They publicized their progress as they worked on it, but the project came to an end in 1998 due to financial issues. Another effort to construct the park was made in 2008, but it was unsuccessful as well. In May, the unfinished structures of the park were taken down, although there had already been quite a few visitors, and one man was still seen in the parking lot directing them.
